The Shifler Salvation Army Red Shield Club of Hagerstown is a chartered Boys & Girls Club under The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of the Potomac Division organization. We are recognized as a chartered site in partnership with Boys and Girls Club of America. Our Salvation Army Red Shield Club creates an accepting, positive and challenging environment where young people of every background, circumstance, race, creed, and religion have a safe place to learn and grow into productive citizens.
We provide students with educational, recreational, and life skill opportunities in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. We allow the children to discover new skills, passions and hobbies while connecting with friends and neighbors in safe and educational ways. The Red Shield Club offers after-school programs, holiday week camps, summer camps and many more opportunities dedicated to fostering healthy futures for families, children and individuals who participate.
The Salvation Army Red Shield Club encourages community engagement through community events such as our Hallelujah Carnival, other seasonal events, and family engagement nights. We are also available for sport and event rentals.
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs have been unique places created by The Salvation Army in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America that offer programs and services that exemplify our mission and Christian principles.
We believe every kid has what it takes. To reach today’s young people and their families in a non-threatening way, our Clubs create an accepting, positive environment where young people of every background, circumstance, race, creed, and religion feel welcomed.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America has a lineup of tested and proven nationally recognized programs that address today's most pressing youth issues, teaching young people the skills they need to succeed in life. Boys & Girls Clubs of America is committed to changing lives. By measuring how much Club kids and teens are achieving, we can determine how effectively the Club experience is helping America’s youth build great futures. These programs are found in six core program areas.
Programs in Character and Leadership Development empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.
Programs in Education provide daily assistance with homework and school assignments, provide hands on activity-based STEM programming, computer safety, and tutoring to advance reading, writing, math, and science skills.
Programs in Health and Life Skills develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
Programs in The Arts enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts, and music lessons.
Programs in Sports, Fitness and Recreation provides children a chance to play sports, participate in structured physical fitness programs, learn ways to improve their overall health by learning about good nutrition, learn conflict resolution skills, and cultivate healthy and safe relationships with friends.
Programs in Spiritual Development provide youth with the opportunity to learn about GOD and how Faith plays a role in our day-to-day life.
